2002 Coeur De Leon, Estate

50% Cabernet Franc 35% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Proprietary red!! 2002 was a great vintage for us here on Diamond Mountain; we think that 2002 will be as good or better than our legendary 1992, which is fabulous right now. The nose is dusty cherry and coffee with a hint of leather. There is a slight hibiscus with blackberries note, plum and cassis. For those wine lovers who prefer the elegance and dimension of classic Bordeaux reds, look no further. Blended for completeness and complexity, we use the best lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from estate fruit to achieve our goal. The 2002 exhibits delicious blackberry, cherry and dark chocolate flavors that lead to a spicy vanilla rich finish. The Coeur de Leon is our special occasion wine, suitable for the most elegant meals and a perfect candidate for cellaring. We hope that it finds its way to your cellar and that you have many special occasions! It will drink beautifully for 15 years or more.

Brilliant ruby red hue. Blackcurrant, peppercorn, vanilla and dried flower aromas. Medium-full with very good concentration, this is an elegantly styled offering with graceful tannins, beautifully ripe fruit and nicely integrated oak. Only a slightly short finish prevents this from scoring higher.
